I little too late

You know I’m Colombian and I’ve always been fascinated with learning from other cultures and embracing other’s traditions but I’m guilty to say that I’d never really cared much for celebrating 5 de Mayo. To be honest I never really cared much to find out what it was all about. But how could I continue being so oblivious to such a big holiday? Specially living in a State with such a big Mexican community and being close friends with some wonderful Mexicans.

I know it’s a little too late but let me show you how a group of girls (all Latin) coming from Colombia, Peru, Mexico, all Mormons and all married to “white guys” (Americans) celebrated 5 de Mayo:

With the BEST guacamole and salsa dip…

(See what I mean)

With Virgin Margaritas…

With Carne Asada, Tostadas and the husband’s effort involvement in the cooking process…

With motherly moments…

With baby talk that only they can understand…

With a soccer match…

With the little girls and life of the party…(there were boys, too. To the contrary of the girls, they were too busy to care to be in front of the camera. No hard task for the mini divas at all…

With a group of cool Latin Moms who made it possible by keeping those traditions alive. VIVA MEXICO!

  5. What a fun celebration! We usually love to celebrate everything, but I've been slacking this year. I'll have to go all out for the 4th and Pioneer Day. And that dip looks divine. I've never considered combining salsa with avocado--yum!
